Grandad, you taught me rhymes when I was little, you know, the risky ones that got a raised eyebrow from teachers!! we used to keep chrysalis in jars and watch them grow into butterflys. you made us eggy bread, chicken soup and egg with dips. you made my sandwiches for school to look like a house, with cress for grass and a radish cut into a flower. you took us cherry picking and cob nutting.you let me help you skin a rabbit!! you used to put cherries over my ears and tell me I had earrings on. you used to drive the cortina and sing us elvis songs. you used to watch the A team with us on a saturday, and you loved watching for the air balloons. you cooked a lovely roast dinner and made some damn nice cakes! I remember toasting bread on the open fire with the fork with you, and burying my marbles in the ground and you digging everywhere to find them. I remmber getting all the bits ready for the village show with you , and your face when you won first prize on some of them.I also remember you throwing the jam roly poly up the garden cos you buggered it up .... 4 times. And I remember you outside the house late at night ringing the bell pretending to be father christmas, trying to wind us all up, swearing you heard hooves on the roof and that elves were up there listening to us ready for christmas!
